DAN ALOI, WHAT HAPPENED??

Well,how is every-one??
I bet your wonderin why I'm writing about
DAN ALOI??? What could the FUSC have to say about him?
Well,check this out and you'll see why!
As you may know(or not)DAN ALOI has long been the guy
that writes about OUR local music scene,
about the bands in OUR area and the venues in OUR area,
He has been known in the past to EVEN SHOW UP at some
of OUR local shows and actually talk with OUR local
musicians about OUR scene.
WELL, I'm not sure what happened to OUR buddy
DAN ALOI in the past year or so,but he doesnt seem
to remember OUR area anymore!!
All you have to do is pick up the star-gazette
and look for the articles about OUR bands??,
What, cant find any?, you bet your ASS you cant!!
Oh if you want to know whats going on in ithaca
he has all the info you need to leave OUR area
and OUR venues and go to ithaca,cortland,
or some bum fuck town down in P.A.,anywhere you
want to go and see music EXCEPT in OUR area!!
Now you might be sayin,fusc,your bein kinda mean,
There's gotta be a good explanation for this oversite,
Well here's a perfect example for ya,you be the judge,,,,
If you opened up your star-gazette on friday(4-8-05)
You were greeted by a full page article(full page!)
about an open jam thats really hoppin,
This JAM has been atracting lots of musicians and
big crowds.
The article is very informative and tells us all how
this JAM started out a few months ago and has really
taken off,in the article we hear from the musicians
we hear from the bar owner and the folks that go to
the shows.
The article is well written and very informative,
I mean after all DAN ALOI is a profesional right?
The article tells us how this JAM has brought out
some of the best musicians from the area and has brought
back the music scene.
Wow,this guy sure knows how to help out a strugling
music scene doesnt he?
With all of this information about this JAM
and the folks that show up you might be wondering
why you walk into THE CAVERN or JAKES for the open jam
there arent tons of people there?
I mean,with someone like DAN ALOI writing full page
story's about these jams people should be flocking to
these places,RIGHT??
OOPS, did I forget to mention that this FULL-PAGE
ARTICLE wasnt about the OPEN JAMS at JAKES in HORSEHEADS
or THE CAVERN in the heights,NO IT WASNT,
This FULL PAGE ARTICLE was about some(how do i say this)
bum fuck hillbilly bar in TOWANDA!!!
Now dont get me wrong,I suport music in any form
anywhere,BUT COME ON DAN??!!!!
Where are you coming from here??
I cant remember the last time I opened up my newspaper
and read an article about OUR music scene unless
someone was holding a benefit or someone had died!!
There are plenty of LOCAL BANDS AND MUSICIANS in
OUR AREA to wtite about.
Bands that have been strugling around here for years
with out any press except their own.
I have seen so many LOCAL bands come and go in OUR area
simply because there didnt seem to be anyone in the media
that would give them the time of day!!
Then we have LOCAL venues that have national bands
on their stage and DONT GIVE A SHIT ABOUT OUR LOCAL
BANDS,you know exactly who I'm talkin about,
TAGS,ya thats right,this guy has these huge shows
and wont even think about having a LOCAL band open up.
Thats supreme BULLSHIT!!!!!!!
Ive never been to a BIG SHOW that didnt have one or two
LOCAL acts that opened the show,never!!
Thats why I ask you all to STAY AWAY from TAGS,
even if it's just this summer,dont go to the shows at TAGS
lets send him a message,were not gonna pay you all
that money and not get to see atleast one of OUR LOCAL
bands opening the show,its not about the money,
cause the opener doesnt get paid, it's the EXPOSIER,
the chance to be seen by people who wouldnt normaly see you!
And come to think about it,DAN ALOI is always there at
TAGS for the BIG shows,makin sure he meets the BIG acts,
and filing a great article about how great they were.
Even if you read the TIME OUT on thursdays you'll see
what I mean,if you want to know whats going on in
ITHACA or CORNING they have all you need to know,
but when LOCAL bands submit their info it seems to
get lost,or wasnt submitted on time????
Always an excuse,never any action!
So I hope DAN ALOI gets wind of this article and takes
a look,at this and at HIMSELF,and gets back HERE,
Because like the headline reads, DAN, WHAT HAPPENED???
GET BACK TO OUR SCENE DAN,WE NEED YOU,
OUR SCENE NEEDS THE PUBLICITY YOU SEEM TO HAVE
RESERVED FOR ITHACA AND OTHER AREAS!!
So if you know DAN ALOI tell him about this,
tell him about OUR LOCAL BANDS,and tell him
about your DISGUST with his LACK OF RESPECT reporting
about US!!!!
